Jeremy Eshelman: More than a Dreamer
Jeremy
Eshelman is a singer-song writer with a heart for God. His
love for people shows clearly on his face and through his
actions. He’s been a prayer support for JESUSpolitik
from our early beginnings.
A song
came to Jeremy about JESUSpolitik's Love Maputo Project in
Mozambique. After seeing pictures and hearing about so many
children living on the streets in Maputo, he was moved to
write a song about these children's situation from their
perspective.
The words to "Dreamer" came to him.
Here are his words:
“Eyes that hold no
tears and lips that don’t cry are hard to find.
Ears that hear the sound of laughter are few and far
between.
Hands that have no scars and shoulders without burden don’t
exist.
Woke up from a dream
where joy is a rock that paves the streets and
love
is the only wood that builds the frames of the houses that I
see.
Mercy, grace and peace all form the blinding brightness of
the sun
in my dreams it is the only place I have to escape from
where…
Eyes that hold no
tears and lips that don’t cry are hard to find.
Ears that hear the sound of laughter are few and far
between.
Hands that have no scars and shoulders without burden don’t
exist.
Close my eyes so I
could reclaim the inheritance I have in dream
where I could sit and eat the feast that satisfies beyond
belief.
The only food I get is tainted by fear and jealousy
I
sleep to dream and dream of the only place where I am free
from my home where …
Eyes that hold no
tears and lips that don’t cry are hard to find.
Ears that hear the sound of laughter are few and far
between.
Hands that have no scars and shoulders without burden don’t
exist.
I will hope it’s the
only thing I can cling to
I
will love it’s the only thing that I can do
I will praise the God of creation
I will praise Him as He will bring me home where…
My eyes will have no
tears
and lips will never cry
I will always hear the sound of laughter
All my scars will be healed
and shoulders with a burden won’t exist.”
Jeremy recorded this song and sent it to us. He came to see us and played it for us in person. It was very moving and powerful time.
Jeremy
not only gave the gift of his song - but he also gave his
guitar, hard case, pics, guitar strap and all to give to the
very street boys he sang about in Maputo, Mozambique. He
gave the guitar that held so much meaning for him, and
the gift of music as well.
The workers at
Masana, one of the main organizations in the Love Maputo
Project collaboration, are teaching the boys that Jeremy
sang about how to play music and write their own songs. They
are teaching the children using Jeremy's guitar, the guitar
he wrote "Dreamer" on. It's a dream come true.
We produced the music video above of Jeremy singing his song, "Dreamer" and in it, you can see the street kids being reached by JESUSpolitik's Love Maputo Project that he's singing about.
Because of Jeremy's faithfulness to use his gifts for God, not only has he helped the street children in Maputo in a very specific way, but he's also being rewarded by having his music make a difference.

Praise God! That's what activism is all about! See a need, pray for the people, use your gifts to specifically help in some way and give!
Give of your prayers, your time, your talent and your resources... and it will be given back to you! God will always bless you back in ways you couldn't imagine. What's more, because of your faithfulness to at least try to help - lives will be forever changed.
Pray for God to open your eyes to how you can give to help the people being reached by JESUSpolitik projects and begin living your calling right now! Check the Do Something page for ideas.
