Andrew: One Shirt Wonder
Andrew found out about the desperate situation in Mozambique when talking with a friend about JESUSpolitik's ongoing project over there. He knew he had to do something. But what? What simple thing could he do with the resources he had? He certainly wasn't in a position to up and move to Mozambique. What could he do right here? He decided to wear his "Love Maputo" tye-dyed teeshirt every day for a month... And then for over a month.... And then for longer than that... Well, it got attention. People tend to notice when you don't change your clothes. Andrew's idea opened up doors for him to talk to people about The Maputo Project to people at his job, in his band, at his church, and well... wherever he went. Something as simple as a teeshirt inspired people to see what simple, little things they could also do to help. He got the nickname "Chief Maputo", well-earned, we think. But he also was used by God in a very simple way to help people... because he was open to it. "It just made sense to me to do it. I was already wearing teeshirts supporting indie bands that I liked, companies that I liked... why not wear a teeshirt to support people that need it most? It's a cool teeshirt too and an easy conversation starter. It's not hard to get attention when you've been wearing the same shirt everyday for over a month. People notice. And if you can get their attention, I figure, maybe you can get them to act." So, that's his story. Something as simple as not changing your clothes! And God used it. What's something that you could do?
