“Awareness without action, just like faith without works,, is dead. And it will make you feel dead too. It is unjust to fill a person’s spirit with information and images of attacks against human rights and dignity without providing them means of acting against it.”

-Melissa Davis, President

Activism: Share your story.

Some groups are a lot of talk. Everyone wants to change the world. JESUSpolitik encourages people to actually do something. Not just talk about it. We've let you know the needs of JESUSpolitik projects around the world. It's time to meet those needs.

Camel men, Erg-Chebbi, MoroccoListed below are some stories from people like you that are using the talents they already have to do something great for the world.

Below that are some activism ideas that we thought you might find helpful to show you how to get your point across, move people to action, create some change, and actually enjoy it! We've used these ideas and they work great, so we thought we'd pass them on to you to use! We're still adding ideas to this page, so always check back and feel free to submit your own ideas too and let us know how it worked out for you! Because we reach more when we all work together!

Activism Ideas

Apply a statistic for a human rights issue (1/16 kids die of AIDS in Africa, etc…) to your student body/ community population. Have a contest for people to design a t-shirt representing your issue, keeping in mind that brightly colored shirts with simple, clear messages are most effective. The idea is to get your message across, not confuse people... click here to read more...

You can do this event using your school cafeteria, a popular restaurant, or even your house! (Just remember to get permission first!) Send out invitations to the general public to attend dinner with your organization. Make the event FREE -this will draw people - and try to swing getting some type of extra credit or other incentive thrown their way if they attend. Place a “1st world” or a “3rd world” card under each of the chairs, making sure to have a good mix of 1st world-ers and 3rd world-ers beside each other and at the same table.... click here to read more...

Get together all your friends, family, members of your group, and just about anyone you can grab and have a paper doll chain party. Get as much paper as you can get your hands on - raid recycle bins, collect newspapers, use old term papers and have people bring whatever paper they can to donate to the effort. The more dolls, the more impact... click here to read more...

Almost anywhere you go, there are people who write poetry, songs, short stories and other what-have-you’s that are looking for a way to share them. When I was in college, we used to pile into whoever’s car we could borrow and drive to this little art museum in the city just to be able to share our poetry with the odd collective of local poets that met in their attic. To us, that attic was a place to share our voice and their snaps of approval were the sweetest song. Anyways, I digress… click here to read more...

So maybe you're not a politics major, studying law or international relations, but you still care about human rights and you still want to do something. Plan a social justice art gallery for your school, community or church. Advertise it several months ahead of time, to give people ample time to be creative. click here to read more...

Never underestimate the power of prayer. Sometimes people get so worn out and beat up with life that they are too tired to pray for themselves anymore. They need you to pray for them. Part of being a member of the Body of Christ is that you work together; you pull for each other, lift up each other and pray for each other. Life down here on earth is hard and we all need all the prayer we can get. click here to read more...

When you're just one person trying to make an impact on the lives of a lot of other people, you've got to work with what you've got.  What’s one thing we all have? Extra stuff setting around that we don’t wear anymore and that we don’t use - that tacky sweater grandma gave you three Christmases ago that’s only function is to occupy the back of your bottom dresser drawer, that teddy bear that you’ve kept around longer than you kept the boyfriend that gave it to you, those shoes that were definitely cuter in the store than they ever were with anything you own, and that oh-I-have-no-idea-where-this-came-from-or-why-anyone-would-buy-it item that we all seem to have lots of. We could definitely use a reason to lighten our load. And what more noble reason than helping somebody else out? click here to read more...

A lot of people don’t have anywhere to live. There’s homelessness in America and all around the world.  Homelessness is an issue that touches us where we live… and where they don’t. Whether abandoned, orphaned, poverty-stricken, drug-addicted, ill, taken advantage of, unfortunate or otherwise, no one likes to be homeless. Everyone has a different story of how they got there, but no one likes to stay there. People need help. click here to read more...
