Cooking
is such a great talent. We've found it to be true that one
of the best ways to get to someone’s heart is through their
belly! Maybe
you and some people at your school could put on a benefit
dinner? Perhaps
the school could sponsor it or maybe a specific dept? It
would be a great way to show off your cooking skills and get
your name out there, plus it could be a great venue to help
the kids being reached by the Love Maputo Project in
Mozambique.
A percentage of ticket sales could go to
the project. Or
all of it, if you can get the school or sponsoring
organization to pick up food costs. We could make up the
posters and fliers for you to advertise the event.
Take some pictures of some of the entrees or even
some video clips of you all cooking for the event and the
event itself. Maybe give us some quotes from people that
participated and we could put it as an activism story on
here. Who knows? It could inspire other people to use their
talents for God too – or to get you to cater their next
event?
Or, what
about putting on a bake sale? We’ve had students do that in
the past and found it really effective. You could maybe get
together with some other friends, maybe with some other
people on your floor or in clubs with you
and see if they
are interested in baking up some cookies & sweets to help
the kids being reached by the Love Maputo Project in
Mozambique.
People always like sweets, even more so when they know that
buying some can help someone else.
What do you think? We could make up some posters for
you if you like.
Any video clips, pictures, quotes you
get we would be more than happy to use in an activism story
about you and your group on JESUSpolitik.com. You never know
who could be touched by a story of what you did to get
involved using their talents for God and these kids too.

Food that Fills the Belly & Fills the Soul!
Much of Jesus' ministry was done around food - from the first miracle of turning water into wine at the wedding feast to the miracle of multiplying the loaves and the fishes; from the last supper with His disciples to the feast we'll all have in Heaven together. Jesus knew well the importance of food to people - how we relax and open up when we eat together. It's a time of drawing together, that's why we're warned in 1 Corinthians 5:11 not to eat with those claiming to be brothers, but not living it. Meal times are influential times for us socially.
What better way to encourage people to get involved with the Love Maputo Project, than over a meal? What a great way you can share your talents in the kitchen and share your heart for helping others!
