Journalism

Senegalese youngsters at school in Dakar, Senegal (do not use without written permission of JESUSpolitik)Do you hope to be a journalist one day? Or, are you already living your calling?

If you write for a magazine, newspaper or any publication currently or would you like to, maybe you could write up an article about the situation in Mozambique and the kids being helped by the Love Maputo project? We could give you all the resources, quotes, pictures that you’d need for a killer article. We’ve had people do that in the past and found it quite effective.

Or, would you like to research an issue related to JESUSpolitik and our projects for a paper for one of your classes? We'd be more than happy to correspond with you via email, phone or even in person if you'd like. There's no telling who you could reach through your writing, whether through an article or a term paper.

If any JESUSpolitik / Love Maputo events go on at your college, maybe you could write an article about it and take some pictures? It would be really helpful and we could put it on our website to inspire more people to get involved. You could try submitting it to the school newspaper - this would not only help you on your resume as a writer, but it would help get the word out and rally help for people being reached by these projects around the world.

Tricia Demmers: Journalism for Justice's Sake

“Serving, finding your calling, living for God - whatever you want to call it -  is about using the talents that God has already given you, and doing the most that you can with them to glorify Him and reach people. Work with what you’ve got, to the best of your ability, with integrity, and enjoy it. That’s what God expects of us.”

Have a love of writing?

Writing well is a powerful tool. Did you know that most of Apostle Paul's epistles in the New Testament were written while he was in jail?  When he couldn't be in the places he wanted to be to share the gospel, he used what talents and resources he did have - and he wrote. His words emboldened early believers and still has that same profound impact on the world today.

Don't ever let someone tell you that writing isn't important. It is. And we've got some ideas for things you can do with it right now, where you are.
