Questions
& Answers
What can we offer you?
JESUSpolitik works with local missions groups and individuals overseas.
Network. We work to connect you with other missions organizations, human rights organizations and relevant groups that can help you have a more efficient and more effective outreach.
Connect. We will provide these contacts and mediate initial communications for you, but it is up to you to keep in contact with these groups, set up meetings and decide if you’d like to work together.
Raise awareness. JESUSpolitik then gets the word out about what you’re doing in the US. We have a good sized network of college students and student groups that may like to use their talents to get involved and help with what you’re doing (You can read some examples of student involvement on the “Activism Stories” page) .
Recruit. Some students may desire to come overseas to help directly as missionaries, aides or interns. We can refer these students to your missions organization, connect you with them and help them find how their talents fit in.
Coordinate.
Many other students or individuals
interested in getting involved may stay here in the US and
contribute through
raising funds, through prayer and by helping get the word
out
by putting on benefit
concerts, making creative videos, writing songs and poetry,
having bake sales and so forth.
What do we expect from you?
1)
Weekly
communication with us via email and/or
Skype.
2)
Monthly Prayer Letters - These are to
give us info to inform,
inspire and motivate prayer warriors, supporters and donors
on your behalf. You may want to include some success stories of people helped, what the needs are,
how funds we’ve
given have been spent, and any news, prayer requests, testimonies and new
developments.
3)
Keep in contact with other missions groups or human
rights groups that we’ve recommended to get
involved with your mission. We
provide the initial introduction, but it is up to you to set
up meetings, communicate and decide if you’d like to work
with them or not. Email communications should be CCed
to us so everyone is
in the loop.
What’s in it for us? Why do we do
this?
If
we’re helping you so much, there’s got to be something in it
for us, right? At this point, you’re probably wondering
why we do
this.
Currently, JESUSpolitik is a US nonprofit that works solely
off of donations as well as the sacrifices and time of good
hearted volunteers. We have no
paid staff, so we’re thankful for all the help we can get!
Our volunteers and even our president have to work full time
jobs elsewhere during the day and then volunteer their time
with JESUSpolitik after work in the evenings, weekends and
on their days off.
We’d like to get to a point to where staff can work full
time doing what they love – helping reach people for the
Lord through JESUSpolitik and the mission organizations it
helps. BUT, to get to that point, we first have to have a
track record of being a responsible, needed and effective
organization. We want JESUSpolitik to be recognized as a
good and beneficial resource for missions groups. It is
only then
that we can apply for US government grants to pay fulltime
staff that can focus all their energies on JESUSpolitik and
the organizations we’re trying to help.
We’d like to be paid by government
grants for our good labors!
We can’t do
that without you!
By helping your missions organization and your missionaries
to reach the people that they are reaching – we’re
establishing our
track record of good service and getting to be used by God
to help people in the process. The more people and
organizations we help, the more readily JESUSpolitik will be
recognized as a beneficial and needed resource for missions
groups, and the more likely we will receive a government
grant and be able to increase our efforts to help you!
How do we build trust?
-
We don’t jump into projects!
We’ll ask you questions, get to know your organization and
then pray if we’re a good match for each other. Once it’s
been determined that we’ll be working together, we’ll do all
we can to help you!
-
We keep in touch weekly and expect monthly
reports (summaries). We want to
know what you’re doing, where you’re effective, where you’re
in need, what you need prayer for and what your ideas are.
We’ll also let you know what we’re doing on our end to help
– what meetings we’ve scheduled, student groups we’re
talking to, schools we’re speaking at, fundraising events
we’re planning, resources we’re gathering, and other work
we’re doing on your behalf.
-
When we send financial help, we want to know
how it’s spent! Please keep
receipts, take pictures of what you’ve bought and send it to
us! People are more inclined to give if they know where it’s
going and they know that you are a faithful steward of the
gift they’ve given you.
-
We have a reputation for being an honest,
trustworthy and personable organization.
Students want to get involved because we’ve provided so many
ways for them to creatively use their talents to help meet
needs around the world.
Assurances:
-
We are not out to steal your glory or to take
credit for your work. We’re here
to support what you’re doing. We’ll write about your mission
and what you’re doing on the “Projects”
page using your
mission organization’s name and
your missionaries’ names. If you
are working in a sensitive environment where you
don’t
want the name of your organization known or of your
missionaries known - we’ll keep that confidential, your
names anonymous and just talk about the work that you are
doing, how JESUSpolitik is helping and how people can give
and get involved too.
-
100% of the money raised specifically for you will go
specifically and only to you.
Money donated for JESUSpolitik projects will be divided by
need among existing projects. None of this money goes
anywhere else.
If
people want to donate to the folks running JESUSpolitik (to
pay for office materials, reimbursements, etc…) we have a
“JESUSpolitik general fund” where they can do that. We
record those monies separately.
-
Once
we begin working with an missions organization in a certain
area, we also begin working with other organizations that
may be compatible with that organization.
It is up to the original
missions organization to decide if they would like to work
with contacts to the secondary organizations we provide.
We’ve found that when missions and human rights
organizations with similar goals (such as reaching the same
people group, solving the same problem, spreading the same
gospel…) collaborate their efforts and resources, that they
have a more efficient and more effective outreach. They
reach more, faster and better.
JESUSpolitik refers to these
collaborative efforts as “Projects”,
usually called by the some variation of the region name,
i.e. Love Maputo Project for the effort in
Maputo, Mozambique.
As earlier stated, all
organizations and workers involved will have their
organization’s names and their missionaries names listed on
their project page, if they so desire.
